Dantas, captain of the Benfica U19 team, arrives on a loan with a purchase option. The scorer of four goals and supplier of two assists in eight games for the B side can reportedly be purchased for €8 million should he perform well for FC Bayern II.
The French left back was bought outright. Bayern Academy director Jochen Sauer had plenty of praise for his new addition to the campus.
"Remi is a player who fits our current professional needs perfectly," Sauer said, "We are convinced that he can progress with us and contribute to our team without delay."
FC Bayern II, who captured the crown in Germany's third footballing division last season, presently occupy place eight in the 3. Liga table. High profile departures on loan and promotions to the senior side have left them somewhat thin. The trainer of the youth team, Sebastian Hoeneß, also left to take the Hoffenheim job over the summer.
With one win, one loss, one draw, and a 5:5 goal ratio, it was clear that the team needed some reinforcements.
New coach Holger Seitz may have another weapon at his disposal soon, however. After the Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as a back-up for Robert Lewandoski, Bayern did attempt to loan out youngster Joushua Zirkzee.
Reports from Transfermarkt indicate that a deal to send him to 1. FC Köln fell through at the edge of the deadline. It stands to reason that Zirkzee will be sent back down to the Bayern campus.
