The January transfer window saw Bundesliga clubs take giant strides in improving their respective rosters. Now, Bundesliga.com have released their pick on the best winter arrivals – with a top eleven starters list that could well be a Bundesliga team in itself.

Lying bottom of the top tier table, Schalke 04 have seen a never-seen-before dip in form that has prompted them to lure several ex-players back to Gelsenkirchen, with the likes of Klaas Jan-Huntelaar, Sead Kolasinac and Shkodran Mustafi. They have three players – the most by any team – in the top eleven, followed by Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin SC who have two each.

Leverkusen have brought in two Premier League players in the form of Demarai Gray and Tim Fosu-Mensah from Leicester City and Manchester United respectively. While Hertha have given Sami Khedira the chance to play in Germany once again and promoted Rune Jarstein as the first team goalkeeper, who is technically the only non-arrival on the list.

Rest of the top four players are all represented by one club each – Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt), Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig), Max Meyer (FC Koln) and Chris Richards (1899 TSG Hoffenheim).

Here is the top eleven winter transfer window team in a 4-4-2 formation –

    GK: Rune Jarstein (Hertha Berlin)

DF: Sead Kolasinac (Arsenal to Schalke); Chris Richards (Bayern Munich to Hoffenheim); Shkodran Mustafi (Arsenal FC to Schalke); Timu Fosu-Mensah (Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen)

MF: Dominik Szoboszlai (Red Bull Salzburg to RB Leipzig); Max Meyer (Crystal Palace to FC Koln); Sami Khedira (Juventus to Hertha Berlin); Demarai Gray (Leicester City to Bayer Leverkusen)

ST: Luka Jovic (Real Madrid to Frankfurt); Klass Jan-Huntelaar (Ajax to Schalke)
