Schalke 04 have announced that Nabil Bentaleb has returned to training with the first-team squad.

Back in November, Bentaleb was suspended indefinitely for disciplinary reasons, but he is now back in training with the first team following talks with head coach Christian Gross.

The 26-year-old is an option for Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin after completing all the necessary coronavirus and performance tests in the past few days.

Schalke 04 head of sport Jochen Schneider has previously made it clear that Bentaleb will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Algerian midfielder has made eight appearances for Schalke this season.
