FC Köln boss dismisses reports Jonas Hector is considering retiring from football

Jonas Hector's injury problems this season has led to speculation that he might be forced to hang up his boots, but FC Köln sporting managing director Horst Heldt sees no reason to worry about the 30-year-old.
FC Köln boss Horst Heldt has dismissed rumors that Jonas Hector is considering hanging up his boots due to consistent injury problems.

Asked if he's worried that the 30-year-old Köln captain will be forced to retire from football soon, Heldt told the Express:

"No, I'm not. There have been no signs it is going to happen, and I can't see any reasons why it should. Jonas has a contract until 2023, and we assume that he will fulfill it."

Hector has been limited to just 11 appearances this season and is currently sidelined with a thigh problem that has kept him out through the whole month.

"We know what the problem is. He wasn't in training today, but we hope to get him fit again soon," said Heldt on Wednesday.
