Bayern crash out of the Champions League despite win in Paris

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's winner was not enough to send Bayern München through against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Bayern München beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in Paris in the Champions League on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough as the French champions sealed their progress to the semi-finals on away goals (3-3 on aggregate).

In the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain – a repeat of last year's final – the German title holders knew they had to score at least twice after suffering a disappointing 2-3 defeat in the first game in Munich last week.

However, it was the home side who created the better chances in a first half that saw Manuel Neuer make several important saves and Neymar hit the woodwork twice.

Then, out of nowhere, it suddenly all looked promising for Bayern when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, filling in for the injured Robert Lewandowski once again, broke the deadlock five minutes before the break, nodding in a rebound from close range.

Bayern were piling on the pressure as the second half progressed, but didn't manage to find the second goal they needed and ultimately crashed out of the Champions League despite holding on to their 1-0 lead until the final whistle.
