Ulreich and Hamburger SV terminate contract, report links keeper with return to Bayern

Bavaria's Münchener Abendzeitung reports that, after his working contract with Hamburger SV was terminated prematurely on Friday evening, keeper Sven Ulreich may be headed back to Bayern München.
German second-tier club Hamburger SV and former Bayern #2 net-minder Sven Ulreich announced that the had come to a mutual agreement for the termination of the keeper's contract on Friday evening. HSV sporting director Michael Mutzel expressed regret that "things had not worked out as planed" and wished Ulreich success in his continued professional endeavors.

Where said endeavors may take place is anyone's guess, but a local Munich newspaper reports that a return to the German record champions may be in the works. Ulreich featured as the team's regular starter during the 2017/18 title-winning campaign whilst national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer recovered from metatarsal surgery.

Ulreich became expendable when the German giants obtained Schalke's Alexander Nübel to back-up Neuer prior to this campaign. Nübel's agent remains dissatisfied that the 24-year-old did not receive the playing time promised him this year. Though there are reports to the contrary, it is widely assumed that the FCB continues to shop Nübel for a loan stint abroad rather than risk any potential conflict with Neuer.

Recent reports linking Nübel with AS Monaco and Lille both reference a two-year-loan arrangement.
