Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario is being touted for a switch back to his home country, Argentina.

According to Argentine media outlet TyC Sports, River Plate would like to bring the 28-year-old back.

Leverkusen paid a reported €24 million to sign Alario from River Plate back in 2017.

The striker has since gone on to score 51 goals in 131 appearances in Germany, but he has struggled to nail down a regular starting place.

Alario's contract expires in the summer of 2022, so Leverkusen might want to cash in on him unless he signs a contract extension.
