Report: Brighton close to signing Stuttgart's González

Brighton agree record €29 million deal to sign Stuttgart forward Nicolás González.
According to The Guardian, Brighton & Hove Albion are close to signing Nicolás González after agreeing a club record fee.

According to the report, Brighton have been in negotiations over the fee for several weeks for a player who scored six goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances last season and the club have made a breakthrough, with the price set to eclipse the £20m paid for Adam Webster in 2019.

The 23-year-old has been tracked by many Premier League clubs, including Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, but it looks like Brighton may have won the battle for the Argentine.

González, who moved to Stuttgart from Argentinos Juniors in 2018 for €8.90m, is currently playing at the Copa América in Brazil.

Stuttgart are already close to a replacement for González, as they reached personal terms with SC Paderborn winger Chris Führich.
