Mainz are set to complete the signing of Swiss international Silvan Widmer, according to Sky Germany, Bild and Fabrizio Romano.

If everything goes according to plan, the 28-year-old right-back will make the switch from FC Basel on a three-year deal, with Mainz paying around €2.5 million to acquire his services.

Wilmer, who featured for Switzerland at the Euros, has one year left on his current deal with Basel.

He has made a total of 117 appearances for the Swiss side, chipping in with nine goals and 17 assists.
