Report: Leverkusen preparing bid for Ginter

After missing out on Kristoffer Ajer, Bayer Leverkusen could turn their attention to Gladbach's Matthias Ginter.
Bayer Leverkusen are preparing an offer for Gladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter, according to Bild.

The German tabloid claims that 'Die Werkself' are ready to put €20 million on the table for the 27-year-old.

Leverkusen are looking to bolster their defensive ranks following the departures of Aleksandar Dragovic (Red Star Belgrade), Lars and Sven Bender (retirement).

In addition, Tin Jedvaj is understood to be close to a move to Lokomotiv Moscow while Edmond Tapsoba is set to miss the start of the season due to an injury.

Kristoffer Ajer was their first choice, but he seems to have opted for a move to Brentford instead.

Ginter's contract with Gladbach expires at the end of the 2021/22 season. During the Euros, he revealed that there had been 'no talks or negotiations' with the club about a contract extension.

Gladbach paid €17 million to bring Ginter to Borussia-Park from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
