Team of the week – Matchday 24

The in-form Nils Petersen leads the line in the team of the week this time around.
Matchday 24 – team of the week (4-1-2-1-2):

Goalkeeper: Rune Jarstein, Hertha BSC
Bayern München usually score, but the Bavarians didn't in last weekend's 0-0 match against Hertha BSC. With seven saves, Rune Jarstein stopped every ball the Bayern stars shot at him.

Right-back: Daniel Caligiuri, Schalke 04
Solid performance on Schalke's right wing-back position and set up Guido Burgstaller with a great pass in the 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Centre-back: Jordan Torunarigha, Hertha BSC
The strong central defender made life difficult for Bayern. Won 12 duels and saved Hertha from conceding on several occasions.

Centre-back: Benjamin Pavard, Stuttgart
Showed why he is seen as one of the most promising young centre-backs in the Bundesliga. Won 80 percent of his duels and looked safe on the ball.

Left-back: Serge Gnabry, Hoffenheim
The versatile Bayern loanee was deployed at the left wing-back position in the match against Freiburg and was once again among Hoffenheim's best players. Looked solid defensively and made a lot of things happen on the left-hand side.

Defensive midfielder: Christoph Kramer, Borussia Mönchengladbach
The Gladbach man always works hard in the middle of the park, but in the 1-0 win over Hannover 96, the midfielder showed that he can also score as he beautifully volleyed the ball into the net from distance.

Right midfielder: Marcel Risse, FC Köln
Played a big role in FC Köln's comeback against RB Leipzig and set up Leonardo Bittencourt for the winner after a great run on the right-hand side.

Left midfielder: Erik Thommy, Stuttgart
Never stopped working on the left-hand side, scored his first Bundesliga goal and was involved in a lot offensively until he was substituted during the second half.

Offensive midfielder: Vincent Koziello, FC Köln
The tiny midfielder impressed in his first Köln start. Scored a great goal from the edge of the box.

Striker: Guido Burgstaller, Schalke 04
The forward scored his first Bundesliga goal since December as he gave Schalke an early lead in the 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen - and what a goal that was. Burgstaller flicked the ball over Leverkusen defender Panagiotis Retsos and smashed it past Bernd Leno.

Striker: Nils Petersen, SC Freiburg
Another matchday, another Nils Petersen goal. The in-form striker, who has scored nine goals in his last 10 Bundesliga matches, made sure Freiburg got a point against Hoffenheim as he clinically made it 1-1 from the penalty spot.
