Arne Maier: Augsburg move not an escape from Hertha
Arne Maier has explained his transfer to Augsburg on loan from Hertha BSC.
Arne Maier has underlined that he hasn't joined Augsburg just because he was looking for an escape route out of Hertha BSC.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has made the switch to WWK-Arena on a season-long loan deal, told reporters at a press conference:
"I have a great relationship with [Hertha coach] Pal [Dardai]. We appreciate each other. But my talks with Augsburg were so good that I wanted to play here.
"It wasn't an escape from Hertha, but a well-considered decision.
"It's important for me to develop further, and I think I have the best conditions for that here at Augsburg."
Maier spent last season on loan at Arminia Bielefeld, featuring 16 times.
