Timeframe given for Stanisic's return from injury

Kicker has provided an update on Josip Stanisic's recovery from injury.

Josip Stanisic and Bayern Munich were dealt a blow ahead of their Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg when the right-back tore a collateral ligament in his right knee.

The Croatia international is currently undergoing rehabilitation, but his return from injury is still a long way off, with Kicker reporting that the best-case scenario is for him to return at the end of November.

Normally, a torn collateral ligament requires up to four months on the sidelines, the German football magazine reports.

Stanisic's injury has left Bayern coach Vincent Kompany with a problem at right-back.

Sasha Boey played there against Wolfsburg, but despite setting up Bayern's opener, he didn't make a convincing impression and committed a penalty before being taken off in the 3-2 win.

Against Freiburg, Kompany benched Boey and gave Kimmich a flexible role on the right. It's quite possible that the Germany captain will continue to play this role until Stanisic is fit again.
