Shortly after rumors began surfacing late yesterday, 2023/24 promotion-relegation playoff winners VfL Bochum officially confirmed the signing of Malian international Ibrahima Sissoko on a free from Racing Straßburg. The Revierklub have thus found their replacement for the departed Patrick Osterhage; also scoring quite the coup with a €6 million valued player. The 26-year-old is now the most highly-valued player on the Bochum roster.

"I'm delighted that we've managed to sign Ibrahima Sissoko," VfL sporting director Marc Lettau noted in a statement, "It proves that our scouting in new markets for VfL is yielding dividends and that we can also convince players courted by the competition to join VfL. Ibrahima has long been a top performer in one of Europe's top five leagues. As such, he will also strengthen us in the coming season."

"I'm happy to be in Bochum and at VfL," the player himself added, "The move to the Bundesliga is exciting. I'm very curious about the fans, the stadium and I'm looking forward to the new impressions."
