A few months ago, it seemed highly unlikely that Leroy Sané would sign a new contract with Bayern Munich.

However, after recent talks between the player and the club, the winger's chances of extending his contract beyond this summer have increased, according to Sky Germany.

The 29-year-old is determined to prove on the pitch that he deserves a new deal, and taking a pay cut doesn't seem to be a stumbling block for the winger.

“Generally speaking, how much I earn is not my first priority. To be honest, I haven't thought about it,” he told Sport Bild in November.

“It's about the whole package. What is my position? How does the club see me? What is the playing philosophy? Can we achieve something big like winning the Champions League together? Those are the things that are most important to me.”

Sane joined Bayern from Manchester City for a reported 49 million fee in 2020.

He has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 32 matches for the Bavarians this season.
