On Saturday, VfL Bochum suffered their sixth league defeat in seven games this season, leaving them bottom of the Bundesliga table with one point.

The crisis-hit Bundesliga side have now responded to the 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim by sacking both head coach Peter Zeidler and sporting director Marc Lettau.

“In spite of a lot of discussions and efforts in the last few weeks, it has not been possible to achieve a significant improvement from a sporting point of view and in the league table,” VfL Bochum stated.

“With this in mind, the club's directors, together with the sporting management and the team, have carried out a thorough analysis. The result: there is a lack of conviction that VfL can achieve the goal of staying in the league with the current personnel constellation.”

There will be an announcement from the club on the way forward in the near future.
