VfL Bochum announced that Francis Onyeka picked up a knock in their latest friendly match which will sideline him for an indefinite period.

The incident happened during the Rührpott club's 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at home on Sunday, July 27.

Bochum's medical staff believe it is a muscle injury which will will rule the 18-year-old talent out for the time being.

Onyeka, a highly rated talent who progressed through Leverkusen's academy ranks, joined Bochum on a season-long loan in June.

The hope was that he would get vital senior minutes under his belt after providing 7 goals and 7 assists for Die Werkself's U-19's last season.
