Anthony Caci has made it clear that he intends to use Mainz as a stepping stone to a bigger club.

"It's a stepping stone club and I knew that before I signed," the French wing-back told Transfermarkt.fr.

“I knew it would be better for my development than Strasbourg in terms of the league and football. But I won't be here for another two or three years.”

With Caci's contract set to expire in 2026, it seems likely that Mainz will try to cash in on him at the end of the season.

“There were talks between my agent and the president, but I haven't heard anything since. So I don't know what the current situation is or if they will even offer me an extension. But that's not my goal, that's for sure.”

Caci joined Mainz on a free transfer from Strasbourg in 2022. He has made 24 appearances this season, scoring once and providing five assists.
