Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed the signing of Daniel Batz from Mainz 05.
The 35-year-old will join Die Fohlen on a free transfer when his contract with Mainz expires this summer, having signed a deal until 2028.
“Daniel Batz is not only a very good goalkeeper, but also someone with real character both on and off the pitch,” said Rouven Schröder, Gladbach’s head of sport.
“His enthusiasm for this new challenge, his ability to assert himself, and his excellent character make him a valuable addition to Borussia, alongside his quality as a player.”
Batz made 27 appearances for Mainz this season, stepping in when Robin Zentner suffering a long-term injury.
After signing his contract with Gladbach, the 35-year-old said:
“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge at Borussia. The talks with the club were very positive and respectful from the very beginning. I’m very excited about taking this step, but I also know I have to approach it with humility. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, the club and the fans.”
