Inter join race for Hummels, per Bild

Inter are said to have joined the race for out-of-contract German veteran Mats Hummels.

Mats Hummels' contract with Borussia Dortmund has expired and it's unclear where the 35-year-old central defender will go next.

The former Germany international has been linked with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen, and now Bild report that a new suitor has emerged.

According to the German tabloid, Inter are also interested in the 35-year-old.

Hummels' departure from Borussia Dortmund was announced in mid-June.

"Dear fans, my time in black and yellow is now coming to an end after more than 13 years. It has been a great honor and pleasure for me to have played for BVB for so long and to have been part of the journey from 13th place in January 2008 to what Borussia Dortmund is today. This club and its fans are something very special - and for me even more so," Hummels said back then.

Hummels featured a total of 508 times for Dortmund, scoring 38 goals and providing 23 assists.
