2. Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 suffered an injury blow when Loris Karius was forced off in their 3-3 draw with Greuther Fürth at the weekend.

‘The Royal Blues’ have now revealed that the former Liverpool goalkeeper will not be able to feature again this season due to a calf injury.

"We will support Loris as best we can in his recovery along with our medical staff. His injury comes at a frustrating time but his health is the most important thing,” said Schalke 04's director of professional football, Youri Mulder.

Karius, 31, joined Schalke on a free transfer in January on a contract for the rest of this season.

He has played four games for the 2. Bundesliga side.
