Kicker Report: Erik ten Hag now Bayern's top coaching candidate

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that the FC Bayern München front office are preparing to get serious about recruiting Erik ten Hag for their vacant head-coaching position.

Though there have always been loose links, Germany's most reliable sporting publication is now reporting that FC Bayern München have bumped up Manchester United's Erik ten Hag up to the top of their list of potential head-coaching candidates. German journalist Georg Holzner - a well-sourced and connected veteran football reporter makes this claim in an article published Monday evening on Kicker's website.

The 54-year-old Dutchman has served as the head-coach at Old Trafford since the end of Ralf Rangnick's interim/consultancy spell with the English Red Devils. The FCB front office finds themselves scrambling for a new trainer to install next season after Rangnick turned the German giants down last week. Outgoing Bayern trainer Thomas Tuchel has actually been linked with a move to Manchester.

Holzner writes that the Bayern front office duo of Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are no longer seriously considering candidates such as Hansi Flick, Louis van Gaal, and Lucien Favre. Holzner also notes that Eberl and Freund aren't likely to through a great deal of administrative rigor behind the pursuit of a new head-coach until after Wednesday's Champions' League second semi-final leg against Real Madrid.
