Matthijs de Ligt could be heading for the exit door at Bayern Munich after slipping down the pecking order through the 2023/24 season.

Manchester United have been linked with the defender for some time, and Dutch publication De Telegraaf is now reporting that the English Premier League outfit have offered him a five-year deal.

The defender's management is said to be in negotiations with Man United, with an agreement on personal terms expected to be reached soon.

It will then be up to the Red Devils and the Bavarians to agree on a fee, with the two clubs said to be in talks.

De Ligt knows Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag from their time together at Ajax and the pair have spoken on the phone several times, according to the report.

The Dutchman joined Bayern from Juventus in 2022 for a whopping €67 million fee.

He made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
