In their penultimate friendly before Euro 2024, Germany were held to a 0-0 draw by Ukraine at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nürnberg.
After the match, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann praised his players for their performance, even though the result wasn't ideal.
"Of course we would have preferred to win 2-0 or 3-0, but we played a good game for a long time. I thought we really wanted to win. The first 20 minutes were very good, we needed to take the lead," Nagelsmann told German television after the game.
Nagelsmann made a number of substitutions in the second half, including Hoffenheim's Maximilian Beier, and the Germany coach was impressed with the young debutant.
“We had six or seven chances shortly after the break. Maxi Beier was very good right from the start. Of course there are things we need to do better, like be more aggressive and have more players in the box. But in general I'm happy, especially with the substitutes, who didn't need any time and got into the game well,” said Nagelsmann.
