Eintracht captain Rode returns to team training

even weeks removed from arthroscopic surgery, Eintracht Frankfurt captain Sebastian Rode returned to team training on Wednesday.
Riding a two-match winning streak on the trot into the international break, Eintracht Frankfurt were also buoyed by the return of their recently anointed team captain on Wednesday. The 30-year-old skipper hasn't appeared for the club this season since being given the armband this summer. Rode played the opening 45 minutes in the team's opening round DFB-Pokal loss against SV Waldhof Mannheim.

Rode's return from knee surgery certainly serves as welcome news for the club. Whether or not Rode can displace newcomer Kristijan Jakic in midfield remains to be seen. The six-partnership of Jakic and Djibril Sow has gelled in recent weeks. Head-coach Oliver Glasner has also been using Australian international Adjin Hrustic as a late-match sub in midfield.

"It's a  very nice feeling to return to the team circle," Rode said on Wednesday, "Everything worked well in training. Now I just hope that I can keep at it."

Jakic and Hrustic's place in the team aside, Glasner has a need for midweek a squad rotations in the Europa League weeks ahead.
