Waldemar Anton: "We produced our worst performance of the season"

VfB Stuttgart defender Waldemar Anton has slammed his side's performance against Augsburg.
Waldemar Anton didn't mince his words after VfB Stuttgart squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 4-1 against Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon.

The Stuttgart centre-back, who was forced off with an injury towards the end of the first half, said:

"We started the game very well but sat back after taking the lead and produced our worst performance of the season. We need to move forward now."

Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo commented:

“After taking the lead we weren’t precise enough and we let Augsburg find their way into the game."

"We obviously lost two players through injury in that period, which was unfortunate," added the Stuttgart coach, referring to the injuries picked up by Chris Führich and Waldemar Anton.

"In the second half we were unable to threaten in front of goal and didn’t defend well for their goals. That’s how we gave the game away."
