Neuer pleased with new milestones and new flat-cap

Another Bundesliga weekend. Another set of Bayern milestones. Manuel Neuer commemorated his 300th appearance for Bayern. Robert Lewandowski's celebrated his 300th Bundesliga goal.

Speaking to the Sky microphones afterward, Bayern's returning captain spoke on the return to "business as usual" and confirmed a post-match apparel trade with 1. FC Köln head-coach Steffen Baumgart.
Bayern's COVID-induced backslide didn't last long. Even if the German giants were still missing players (including dynamic left-back/winger Alphonso Davies), the league leaders found a way to get it done in imperious fashion against 1. FC Köln.

Manuel Neuer, forced to watch last week's defeat to Gladbach from COVID quarantine, returned to commemorate his 300th fixture in an FC Bayern tricot.

"After the defeat to Gladbach, it was simply important that we got the first points of the year here," Neuer told the Sky microphones afterwards, "and that's how we performed in this match."

Asked about Robert Lewandowski's 300 Bundesliga goal milestone, reached after the Polish striker completed a hat trick, Neuer couldn't help but help but sound trite when speaking of the Bundesliga's live legend.

"We're very happy that we have Robert," the FCB captain summed up, "He's a machine up front."

Neuer also had to answer questions about where the keeper's historic 300th official FCB match jersey had gone. Neuer confirmed that none other than Domstädter head-coach Steffen Baumgart had requested it. In exchange, the German national team keeper received Baumgart's trademark flat-cap.

"This is already legendary," Neuer said of his new souvenir.
