Bayern München fear they may have to manage without Thiago Alcantara for a while after the midfielder hurt his ankle during the 2-1 win over SV Rödinghausen in the DFB-Pokal last night.

Thiago had to be substituted after 75 minutes and subsequently had his ankle bandaged. Later, he left the stadium on crutches.

"We now have the nexy injured player in Thiago. I hope it's not that bad, but it doesn't look good," Bayern München coach Niko Kovac told ARD after the game.

Aside from the long-term injured Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman, James Rodriguez, Jerome Boateng (both illness), Arjen Robben (neuromuscular blockade), Sven Ulreich (wife in labor) and Mats Hummels (adductor problems) all missed last night's game.

Update: Ankle injury will keep Thiago out for 'a few weeks'
