RB Leipzig and Marcel Halstenberg are set to resume talks over a new contract, according to Kicker.

It looked like the 30-year-old was heading for the exit door when he turned down a new deal and flirted with a move to Borussia Dortmund last year.

However, the situation has seemingly changed, with Kicker reporting that both parties want to continue working together. After a casual exchange, serious talks are now to follow.

Halstenberg, whose contract expires this summer, made his return from a long spell on the sidelines in yesterday's 4-0 DFB-Pokal victory over Hannover 96.
