Report: Düsseldorf seek services of BVB reserve defender

German broadcaster Sport1 reports that Fortuna Düsseldorf are interested in acquiring the services of Dortmund reserve defender Antonios Papadopoulos.
Borussia Dortmund's persistent injury woes in the defensive corps have enabled a pair of young talents to join the senior side recently. BVB heat-coach Marco Rose has turned to youth squad players Lennard Maloney and Antonios Papadopoulos to fill his bench squad. While the duo haven't got terribly much playing time in recent relief appearances, they have had the opportunity to make an impression on a much larger platform.

Maloney, a stocky 22-year-old German center back also eligible to play for the USA, showcased some nice moves in a recent late relief appearance against Arminia Bielefeld.  Papadopoulos, a German of Greek heritage, is of a similar age and build to Maloney. The pair have served the youth team well during the current BVB II campaign in the 3. Liga.

German broadcaster Sport1 reports that at least one second division club are interested in at least one of the players. The outlet cites its own sources to claim that Fortuna Düsseldorf are looking to ply Papadopoulos away from the league's second-placed club with a transfer offer in the low-six-figure range.

Both defenders are valued at close to a quarter of a million Euros in the latest transfer market listings.
