According to Polish media outlet Przeglad Sportowy, Wisla Krakow has met with Wolfsburg to discuss a possible move for Blaszczykowski in January, and the Polish side's coach, Maciej Stolarczyk, has admitted that he is interested in signing the 32-year-old.
"Of course, I would really like to have such a player in my squad. He is a person who has a close connection to Wisla Krakow. But above all, 'Kuba' is a great footballer. At the moment, it's just rumors in the press, so it's hard for me to say much more about this right now," Maciej Stolarczyk has said according to Przeglad Sportowy.
However, it could be a stumbling block if Wolfsburg demand a transfer fee for Blaszczykowski whose contract runs out in the summer of 2019. Wisla Krakow are in financial problems and wouldn't be able to offer 'Die Wölfe' any money for the Polish international.
It is said that the Polish club would be able to agree with Blaszczykowski on a contract, though, as a sponsor is willing to give financial aid in order to pay his wages.
After playing 253 games for Borussia Dortmund, Blaszczykowski was loaned out to Fiorentina for the 2015/16 season. He then joined Wolfsburg in 2016. This season, the Polish international has been limited to just two appearances as a substitute.
