With his contract with Augsburg set to expire in the summer, Ruben Vargas is set to join Sevilla, according to Sky Germany.

The report claims that the Swiss international will make the switch to the La Liga club on a free transfer in the summer - or this month if the clubs can agree on a transfer fee.

Augsburg and Sevilla are said to be discussing a fee of between €1.5-2 million, but an agreement has yet to be reached.

The Bundesliga side's sporting director, Marinko Jurendic, confirmed in December that the attacking midfielder had turned down an offer to extend his contract.

Vargas, 26, has played for Augsburg since 2019.
