Oliver Kahn: "You can't fault the team"

Bayern chief Oliver Kahn couldn't fault the team's effort against Villarreal.

Bayern München CEO Oliver Kahn has reacted to tonight's 1-1 Champions League draw with Villarreal that saw the German champions crash out of the Champions League 1-2 on aggregate.

"Something like this is always disappointing. I don't think you can fault the team. The players tried everything. It's very difficult to open up a defence like this," said Kahn after the final whistle.

"Perhaps we can blame ourselves for not getting the most out of our chances. But you can hardly show more will than what the team showed.

"The problem is that we didn't make it 2-0. Because of that, there was always a danger of being punished - and that's what happened. We won't burst into tears now, but will attack again next year."
