Stuttgart officially bid farewell to Didavi after 25 years

VfB Stuttgart officially bade farewell to Daniel Didavi on its websites and social media channels on Friday.
As expected, Daniel Didavi's career with VfB Stuttgart comes to an end along with his expiring contract. The 32-year-old's longtime club made the departure official on Friday. Didavi first joined the Stuttgart youth ranks in 1997, meaning that his time with the club spanned nearly a half a century. Didavi did spend one season on loan in Nürnberg (2011/12) and also played for Wolfsburg for two years (2016/17, 17/18).

Didavi scored 24 goals in a total of 113 top flight appearances with the Swabians. He also added sic tallies during Stuttgart's most recent year (2019/20) in the 2. Bundesliga. He played just 10 games, starting two, this season. In a released statement, VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat emphasized that the club "did not come to the decision easily."

"Dida came to VfB as a young boy and is now leaving as a person who has given a lot to the club," Mislintat noted, " Personally, I have maximum respect for 'Dida' as a footballer will miss his personality too. He's a prime example of how one can work their way up from the youth ranks."

"I can still remember well how I started as a youth player at VfB and then accomplished the dream of making it as a professional," Didavi is quoted as saying. "Now a new chapter begins for me, but I will always carry VfB in my heart."
