Germany drew 1-1 for the third consecutive UEFA Nations League game, sharing the spoils with Hungary at the Puskas Arena in Budapest tonight.

Coming off draws against Italy and England, Hansi Flick's troops were hoping to finally open their winning account in the second edition of the UEFA Nations League.

However, the guests suffered an early setback as Zsolt Nagy opened the scoring for Hungary just six minutes into the game. Manuel Neuer beat away a header from Roland Sallai, and Nagy then picked up the rebound before smashing the ball into the net.

Germany found a quick response three minutes later through Jonas Hofmann, who scored for the second game in a row. The Gladbach winger latched on to a dangerous long pass from Nico Schlotterbeck and poked the ball past Hungary goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi before slotting into the empty net.

The hosts came closest to getting on the scoresheet again in the first half just before the break, but Manuel Neuer pulled off a superb reaction save to stop Attila Fiola's finish.

In a second half with few clear-cut chances, Germany did create one golden opportunity to grab the lead when Jonas Hofmann was played in behind with 72 minutes on the clock. But one-on-one with Peter Gulacsi, Hofmann opted to square the ball across goal in an attempt to find Timo Werner, giving Willi Orban time to clear his lines.

The result means Germany remain third in Group 3 of the UEFA Nations League Group A – one point clear of bottom-placed England. Hungary sit second, one point ahead of Germany and one point behind Italy in the top spot.
