Bochum's Tesche to carry on in Osnabrück

Thirty-five-year-old VfL Bochum midfielder Robert Tesche will continue (and perhaps conclude) his professional footballing career in Germany's third footballing division. 
Even at the age of 35, former Bielefeld, Hamburger SV, and Fortuna Düsseldorf midfielder Robert Tesche hasn't had quite enough of the professional game. The VfL Bochum man signed with 3. Liga side VfL Osnabrück on Thursday, joining the Lilacs on a free transfer off his expiring contract.

"I really feel like playing, the veteran noted in a statement, "I'm not attempting to merely pass on my experience, but continuing to perform. For me, it was clear that my career is not over yet. I definitely want to take on another challenge. I'm fit and still full of ambition."

The elder footballing statesman brings with him the experience of 136 appearances in Germany's top footballing division. He also built a fine career for himself in England, playing for Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City. In Service to Bochum since 2017, he assisted the club greatly in getting them back to the top flight.

"Robert Tesche's career speaks for itself," Osnabrück sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh noted in a statement, "He has proven his quality in both German Bundesliga leagues and in England. But what impressed me much more than the CV in the talks with Robert was his energy and motivation. He wasn't looking for a club where he can wind down his career, but still has goals despite his age."
