Modeste thanks teammates and coach after scoring first goal for Dortmund

Anyone tuning into the Hertha-Dortmund fixture on Saturday could see that much of the BVB's offensive match-plan revolved around attempts to get newly acquired striker Anthony Modeste off the mark in his new brace-and-yellow tricot.

After scoring his maiden goal for die Schwarzgelben, Modeste credited his teammates and his coach with their efforts toward assisting him in this regard.
It did not take long after kickoff at the Olympiastadion on Saturday to see that visiting Borussia Dortmund were focusing a great many of their attacks through the flanks. Having barely gotten any touches in during his first two starts in a BVB jersey, Edin Terzic clearly instructed his team to do their part to help out center-forward Anthony Modeste.

When Modeste's former 1. FC Köln teammate Salih Özcan whipped a cross in the Frenchman's direction in the 32nd minute, one could see the entire Dortmund bench rise. Modeste finished cooly with his forehead from what was actually a rather difficult angle. Scenes of jubilation followed.

"The team gave me more services today.," Modeste remarked afterwards when reflecting on what proved the game-winning-goal, "It took a little while and I know that I've been taking some heat lately. Thanks to Edin Terzic for the support."

The head-coach who showed continued faith in Modeste by starting him in three consecutive league fixtures noted that he obviously wished that the team had scored more goals in his own post-match comments. That notwithstanding, the BVB trainer did think that his team showed an appropriate response after last week.

"It was definitely important to show an an upped performance after what we furnished in doing last week," Terzic said, "We succeeded in doing that. I think it was a deserved victory, there were many things that were clearly better.

"We of coursee didn't manage to put it to bed," he nevertheless admitted, "As a result, the game was competitive until the very end."
