After a winless start to the campaign, Stuttgart announced that they have split with manager Pellegrino Matarazzo. The American has been in charge of the club since 2019 and is now replaced by assistant coach Michael Wimmer until management decides on a permanent trainer.

In a statement, Matarazzo said that, "These were intense and wonderful years with many incredible moments and memories that will stay with me forever. I will be eternally grateful for the chance I was given here to gain a foothold in the coaching business.”

“The VfB is something special that you only understand after you are a part of it. I wish this team, this club with these fans, all the best and maximum success.”

Stuttgart face Bochum in a massive relegation-zone battle on Saturday.
