Reports: Stuttgart plan to install Paderborn exec. as new sporting director

Germany's preeminent footballing publication confirms a Sky report that VfB Stuttgart are considering bringing in Fabian Wohlgemuth as Sven Mislintat's successor at the sporting director position.
After parting company with Sven Mislintat following a three-and-half year collaboration, there has been some question as to whether VfB Stuttgart sporting CEO Alexander Wehrle plans to install a new sporting director at the Swabian club at all. According to a Sky report appearing on Friday - confirmed by German footballing magazine Kicker - Wehrle does have someone in mind for the vacant position.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, the managing direct of SC Paderborn 07 since 2020, is supposedly the new man for the job. The appointment would make sense as the 47-year-old has experience working with rumored new VfB head-coach Bruno Labbadia for two years during Labbadia's stint with Wolfsburg. As reported by Kicker, negotiations with Paderborn may well be what is holding up Labbadia's expected confirmation.

Stuttgart will certainly owe Paderborn a transfer sum for the experienced administrator. Wohlgemuth has been active as a manager for a little over a decade, working for Wolfsburg and Holstein Kiel before moving to his current place in East Westphalia. One assumes that, should the negotiations succeed, Wehrle plans to introduce Wohlgemuth and Labbadia simultaneously.
