After some mistake-riddled performances in recent league deployments, Gladbach are said not to be satisfied with the prospect of promoting back-up keeper Tobias Sippel to the top net-minding spot. Young prospect Jan Olschowsky remains the long term candidate to stand in goal for the team, but the 21-year-old still remains thin on experience and an insurance policy might be necessary.
The name of Sommer's Swiss compatriot Yvon Mvogo thus crops up once again in the German rumor mills. The 28-year-old Mvogo finally left parent club Leipzig this past summer after a long-term loan-out to PSV Eindhoven. Since joining FC Lorient, he's made 14 appearances (19 goals conceded) in Ligue 1.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus had already been attempting to acquire Mvogo last July. The four-times-capped international was also said to be amenable to the move. Mvogo's current contract with the French side runs through 2024, meaning that the BMG would have to pay for his services.
The former Bern academy man maintains an estimated market worth of €3.5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.
