The exceedingly fast right-flanker managed to make a solid impression in some of the test matches. Jannis Klimburg reports that Fischer himself is pleased with the contributions of the hitherto underused summer signing from SV Darmstadt 98. Per Klimburg, negotiations with FC Schalke 04 for a longer-term loan out have been called off for now.
Skarke made just three appearances for the capital city's Köpenick side during the first phase of the season. The 26-year-old remains under contract with the FCU through 2024. Klimburg notes that this was one reason why Schalke backed off. The Königsblauen preferred a long-term loan-out that would enable them to keep in the attacker in the event of relegation.
Schalke did seal such an arrangement for Mainz's Niklas Tauer.
