Former Augsburg left-back Philipp Max could be headed back to the Bundesliga before the transfer window closes.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad and Sport1, Eintracht are exploring the possibility of signing the 29-year-old PSV player.

Max has slipped down the pecking order at PSV as the season has progressed and will reportedly be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in.

Ansgar Knauff played as a left wing-back in Frankfurt's most recent game – a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich.

Christopher Lenz and the currently injured Juventus loanee Luca Pellegrini are also competing for the spot on the side left of defence.
