Josuha Guilavogui "would have liked to move to Stuttgart"

Josuha Guilavogui has opened up on his failed transfer to Stuttgart.
Wolfsburg midfielder Josuha Guilavogui has admitted he would have liked to join VfB Stuttgart during the January transfer window.

"I think everyone knows that I would have liked to move to VfB Stuttgart. But not because I don't feel comfortable here. I simply wanted to play more again. And I would have had that opportunity in Stuttgart. In addition, I would have liked to work under Bruno Labbadia again," Guilavogui told Kicker.

"We always stayed in touch after his time at VfL. Stuttgart would have been a nice challenge for me, but VfL said no. And I'm also very grateful to VfL, so I couldn't cause any trouble now or even go on strike. I accepted the decision."

Besides the Swabians, other clubs showed interest in the versatile 32-year-old.

"There was interest from the Bundesliga, also from other leagues. That tells me that I still have value, even if I've played less recently."

At this point, Guilavogui isn't sure if he'll leave Wolfsburg when his contract runs out in the summer.

"I'm not thinking about that at the moment. I'm in the last third of my career now and for the first time I don't know what will happen tomorrow," he said and continued:

"It's a different feeling, but a good one. We will sit down and find a solution. Maybe next year we'll play internationally and the coach will have to rotate more."
