American heritage player Timothy Tillman is headed to the country of his father for the next phase of his career. The 24-year-old former FC Bayern München campus prospect will join defending MLS champions LAFC for the coming season. Early reports indicate that Tillman's German club SpVgg Greuther Fürth will receive €500,000 for the €1.2-million-valued player.

Tillman was able to increase his market value during a serviceable campaign for Fürth in the German top-flight last year. Unlike younger brother Malik, the Nürnberg native has only represented Germany thus far on the international level. This could change along with Tillman's change of scenery.

“I am very excited and looking forward to being a part of LAFC and Major League Soccer,” Tillman noted in a statement released by the California club  “I want to thank everyone at Greuther Fürth, especially [SpVgg sporting director] Rachid Azzouzi, for helping me to develop and for giving me this opportunity at this stage of my career.”

Current Fürth head-coach Alexander Zorniger wished one of his semi-regulars (nine starts in the current campaign) well at a presser ahead yesterday's 2. Bundesliga clash with the Karlsruher SC. With something of a sly wink, Zorniger noted that Los Angeles is a "tolerable city" for someone to go to.

There are presently some rumblings in the German rumor mills that the L.A. club are also interested in picking up out-of-contract German striker Max Kruse as well. The 34-year-old Kruse has been without a club since VfL Wolfsburg released him last month.
