Kicker Report: Union sign Bayer keeper Grill permanently
Stephan van Nocks and Janis Klimburg of Germany's Kicker Magazine report that 1. FC Union Berlin have opted to pull the trigger on the purchase clause for on-loan back-up keeper Lennart Grill.
Berlin's Köpenick side - according to a report from two reliable German footballing journalists - have decided to sign former Germany U21 keeper Lennart Grill permanently. The 24-year-old arrived in Köpenick on loan with an option to buy this past summer. Serving as a back-up to normal Union #1 Frederik Rønnow this season, Grill has made six appearances across all competitions for die Eisernen during the current campaign.
Grill has conceded 11 goals in the league this season, though he was able to keep one clean sheet in the league and another one in the domestic cup. The former Mainz and Kaiserslautern academy man's restoration as the back-up for Lukas Hradecky at Leverkusen became less likely when die Werkself brought in Austrian net-minder Patrick Pentz during the January transfer window.
