Virkus reveals Gladbach are fighting to keep Stindl

Gladbach have not given up on keeping Lars Stindl, sporting director Roland Virkus has confirmed.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are still hoping to extend the contract of captain Lars Stindl beyond the summer.

"We are in a very trusting and open exchange with Lars, with the aim of keeping him at Borussia," Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus told the WAZ newspaper.

According to Bild, however, Stindl is currently leaning towards a return to his hometown club Karlsruher SC.

"Lars has to make some very fundamental considerations for his decision. Of course we give a deserving player like him this time, knowing full well that a decision will have to be made in the not too distant future.

Stindl came through the KSC youth ranks in 2000 and went on to make 59 appearances for the professional side before joining Hannover in 2010 and Borussia five years later.
