Report: Leipzig agree to terms with Belgian striker

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that RB Leipzig have agreed to personal terms with their preferred Christopher Nkunku replacement.
As a replacement for the 2022/23 German Bundesliga's joint-leading goalscorer, RB Leipzig have apparently targeted Belgian international Ikoma-Loïs Openda of Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens. The 23-year-old just wrapped up a 21-goal-campaign for France's second-placed side after moving from Club Brugge last summer.

Lens will be reluctant to part with the striker, who remains under contract through 2027. Hence, Germany's main sporting tabloid reports, the French club shall seek a transfer fee well above Openda's estimated market worth. The eight-times-capped international maintains an estimated market worth in the latest transfermarkt listings.

"Sport Bild" writes of a transfer fee closer to the €30-million-range. There have been looser links tying Openda to Borussia Dortmund and even Eintracht Frankfurt appearing in various other German footballing media sources. Flush with cash, at least until Dortmund sort out their summer sales, Leipzig can be considered the favorites to acquire the forward.
