Forsberg makes case for Elanga move to Leipzig: "Anthony would fit in well with us."

Speaking to Swedish news portal "Fotbollskanalen", RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg expressed the desire to play alongside countryman and friend Anthony Elanga in Saxony next season.
Swedish winger Emil Forsberg of RB Leipzig made an interesting and authoritative case for one of his fellow countryman in an interview with Swedish news portal "Fotbollskanalen" yesterday. The 31-year-old made no secret of the fact that he considered a friend and countryman ten years his junior a good fit for his German club.

Swedish youngster Anthony Elanga has seen his relevance decline at Manchester United this past season. The former Malmö academy man made just 16 league appearances for Erik ten Haag's English Red Devils last year. Eleven such deployments came off the bench. The 21-year-old has expressed frustration with his current role.

Forsberg seems to have a solution in mind. The veteran Swede even went so far as to say that he would engage former Leipzig sporting CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, who still works on the RB supervisory board, in a direct conversation.

"I will sit down with Oliver and see what we will do," Forsberg told the Swedish soccer portal "Fotbollskanalen," [quoted in an article released by Germany's Kicker Magazine], "Anthony would fit well with us. He's a young player who wants to get even better."

"A move could happen," Forsberg continued, "I've spoken with Anthony and have a good relationship with Oliver. He's is a young and talented player who fits us. We've always been good at developing young and talented players."

Elanga maintains a current estimated market worth of €25 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. United have long been regarded to, at the very least, loaning the youngster out. There were whispers of a Dortmund loan-out during the most recent January transfer window.
