Following reports that the transfer had been completed late yesterday, Benedict Hollerbach was officially unveiled as an 1. FC Union Player early Thursday. The details of the 22-year-old's new contract were not revealed. Germany's Kicker Magazine affirms its own reports from yesterday that the new addition will cost the Köpenickers approximately €2 million.

It remains to be seen as to whether Hollerbach will remain on the Union roster for the upcoming season or be loaned out so as to accrue more playing practice elsewhere. In a statement accompanying the signing, FCU managing director Oliver Ruhnert acknowledged that the former SV Wehen Wiesbaden forward was making a significant leap from a third-division side to a Champions' League club.

"Everyone is aware of the big jump from the third division to us," Ruhnert said, "Nevertheless, we are convinced that Benedict, with his one-on-one skills, speed and determination fits well into our system of play and can bring us a lot of joy in the future."

"With the move to Union, my dream of playing in the Bundesliga is coming true," the player himself added, "That was always my goal, and now I want to give everything to continue my development successfully and put myself at the service of the team."
