Manchester City officially unveiled RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol as a new signing on Saturday afternoon.
The mega-move had already been verbally confirmed by Man City trainer Pep Gvardiola at a Friday presser. RB Leipzig officially bade farewell to the defender that served as a solid pillar at the back on their website and social media feeds. Club sporting CEO Max Eberl also issued a statement upon the confirmation of the transfer.
"Josko is a player we would have liked to see continue in the RBL jersey due to his outstanding quality and personality," Eberl noted, "But due to his desire to transfer and the overall financial package, which makes him the most expensive defender in history, we decided opted to agree to let him depart early [prior to the activation of his release clause]."
"Josko is going to one of the world's best teams," Eberl continued, "That alone shows the developmental strides he's taken in the past two years with us. He, like others, exemplifies the path we are taking at RB Leipzig."
